Sunny Marquette Michigan Elopement

One of my 2020 goals was to stay on top of blogging – and yeah, clearly that hasn’t gone great so far hahah. Work for me is beautiful yet weird. Often elopements bring out that sense of living-in-the-moment in us all. And who wants to do work at their campsite when they could instead experience all of the amazing things around them?? Especially somewhere as beautiful as we were, which was the main reason why they picked Marquette for their Michigan elopement. And man, what day it was.

From our first phone call, I knew that Alison + Evan were awesome. They told me all about their backpacking adventures, and all about their sweet pups back at home. They always dreamed of eloping somewhere in nature, and Marquette was the perfect spot for their Michigan elopement!

Their day started out with their first look at the base of one Sugarloaf Mountain, which is one of Marquette’s most beautiful spots!

The original plan was to elope at Sugarloaf, but due to a small oops with the wedding bands, ended up moving the ceremony to another favorite spot! It worked out incredibly though because the new elopement spot allowed a much more private & intimate setting, which was perfect.

Sugarloaf mountain has some of the most beautiful views in the area, so we still took plenty of portraits while we were there!

Their ceremony was the most intimate I’ve ever experienced, and the location was SO beautiful. Marquette has some of the most scenic spots in the state!

Michigan is unfortunately not a self-solemnizing state, but luckily I am an ordained minister and was able to officiate the ceremony! Another fun aspect was that one of the witnesses was my mom, and the other a friendly beachgoer. So cool.

One of my favorite parts of their day was their little mini-reception, where they popped some champagne, sipped their favorite beers, and smashed some of the UP’s most incredible donuts.

Everything about their day was just absolutely incredible, and it was such a perfect Michigan elopement. I could not feel luckier to have been along for the ride. Congratulations Alison + Evan!!
