Upper Peninsula Engagement Session at Black Rocks

Weronika + Matthew actually got married this summer, but were saving their photos for after their wedding day! True adventurers, they had an intimate wedding ceremony, and they decided to book an adventurous Upper Peninsula engagement session – and it was amazing!

Because I’m an adventurous elopement photographer, I end up meeting a lot of outdoorsy, adventurous couples – which is what I LIVE for!

Weronika + Matthew are by far one of the most adventurous couples I’ve ever photographed! Weronika is originally from England, and she and Matthew have traveled everywhere together. They love the outdoors, hiking, and were down for absolutely anything. I was beyond excited when they said they were down to do photos during sunrise. We planned everything for their sunrise photoshoot with their sweet pup Addie, and it was seriously magic. 

There truly isn’t anything in this world quite like a sunrise session. Waking up early to see that red sun peek over the horizon, and seeing sunlight slowly spilling over the shoreline and the water is just so magical. And that morning light is like WOWWWWWW. Getting to experience it all in such a gorgeous park, with such an awesome couple was just so incredible!

Trying to decide what time of day is best for your engagement photos?!

Opt for either sunrise or an hour and a half before sunset for the best light!

We started off the session on the Black Rocks in Marquette (one of my absolute FAVORITE places)!!

Weronika + Matthew brought their adorable 10 year old yellow lab named Addie, who is also an adventurous member of the family! Our next stop was a quick (aka steep as hell and definitely more advanced than originally anticipated!) hike up to some gorgeous local waterfalls!

Michigan has the most incredible cliffs, hiking trails, and waterfalls – you just have to know where to look!

The Waterfalls near Marquette are such a beautiful, quiet spot, and it’s such a romantic place for photos!

Michigan has so many beautiful places, and a lot of them end up being very quiet because they’re not well known. I have a long list of amazing places that I love to shoot at – so if you’re looking for something that says adventure or the great outdoors, I can help with that!

It was so much fun climbing around with their sweet pup Addie! We wrapped up our session in the crisp fall air while water ran gently around us, and it was such an amazing way to start the day.
