It’s no secret that I’m sooo in love with my home state of Michigan! A lot of people just really don’t know much about the mitten state, and I feel so often its beauty is totally overlooked. That's why I’m on a mission to show the world just how awesome Michigan is. Aubrey + Jake found me on Instagram! Aubrey happened to see one of my instagram posts where I had written about blasting some Backstreet Boys during a shoot and that's what got this whole awesome adventure started 😹 We started chatting and found out she and Jake were going to be near the Upper Peninsula while I was there for a wedding!! We booked a date and started planning our engagement session adventure in Marquette, Michigan!
Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is the beautiful northern part of the state! It borders three of the great lakes and has warm, beautiful summers and snowy winters - so it's seriously the best of both worlds. And experiencing it with these two sweethearts was so incredible. You could see how much they love each other every second that passed, and I seriously can't wait to photograph their wedding day next summer!
If you love the outdoors, Michigan's Upper Peninsula has it all - forests, waterfalls, hiking, snowmobile trails, camping... You name it!
Aubrey + Jake traveled all the way from Mackinac to meet me in Marquette for their shoot. We of course out the Black Rocks, the beautiful rock formations at the tip of Presque Isle Point.
Black Rocks is a super fun spot for hiking, climbing, and cliff jumping in the summer!
We started our shoot looking out over the water, and had a mix of sun and clouds. It started raining lightly and looked really cool! We hiked around and checked out some spots on the cliff before heading out. I love Hidden Beach, so we went nearby for the second half of the shoot. Aubrey + Jake are big wine lovers, and had packed a bottle of red. They poured a couple glasses and we listened to EDM (the only music they can agree on haha)!
