It’s certainly no secret at this point how I feel about sunrise elopements. The anticipation that builds while you’re hiking to a beautiful location to watch the sun crest the horizon as you say your vows is just MAGIC. And Rhilee and John’s morning was FILLED with that magic at their sunrise elopement! I can’t wait to share it with you!

For their elopement, we hiked to one of the farthest points of this stretch to reach some beautiful, large rocks that spread out into the water for their ceremony. It’s such a gorgeous landscape and one of the reasons I love the Marquette area so much!! The ceremony was just the three of us, and they said their vows right as the sun was beginning to rise over the horizon – which was just as dreamy as it sounds!

We followed up their beautiful ceremony with exploring the area on our walk back to where we parked. This included some moments wandering the mossy forest, and the nearby rocky beach (that was giving serious Twilight vibes!!) for a few fun little moments! This specific area we went to is one of my favorites because it has a ton of variety for photos, as well as many little nooks and coves for you to find some privacy!

As their little post- summer lake superior elopement celebratory reception, Rhilee and John set up a gorgeous picnic in a private cove at Presque Isle. They had gone to the farmer’s market the day before and found some amazing treats to bring along! As well as some pastries from a local favorite – Huron Mountain Bakery! They have amazing bagels, pastries, and desserts, and it’s always one of my favorites to recommend!

This summer Lake Superior Elopement with Rhilee and John was one of the best days of last summer. They are so sweet and getting to talk to them about their new home, music, their sweet pup, gardening, and their story was just the cherry on top of an incredible day. Not to mention they are high school sweethearts, and have been together for 12 years!! Days like this are always so special and I feel so lucky to have been able to photograph this part of their story!
